Some May Work As Symbols: Art Made in Brazil, 1950s to 70s
Raven Row, London, March - May 2024
Working closely with Raven Row and its exhibition curators once again we developed and built a family of modular plinths and freestanding walls to display varied works ranging from paintings & prints to tapestries and sculptures. The work was arranged in relation to its self rather than chronologically or thematically. The freestanding walls enable juxtapositions and pairing to be created between individual works and help to modulate the scale of the main gallery spaces.
The plinths were made from solid radiata pine 2ft wide panels, and the joints between each was expressed with a deliberate chamfer joint. The yellow paint colour choice gave a bright and playful feeling to the spaces, and the grain of the timber is visible to those who look closely.
The walls and plinths were all detailed and constructed in a way that enabled the reuse of the pine panel once dismantled after the show.
